'Able to carry the ball well' - Pundit identifies Iwobi as one Everton player Man Utd should be wary of
Published: October 09, 2022
Everton's seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions will come under a big threat when they host Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
Since their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on matchay two of the Premier League, Frank Lampard's team have won three games and drawn on four occasions while their miserly defence have conceded only four goals.
On the other hand, Manchester United's defence is a cause for concern heading into the fixture against the Toffees, with eight goals conceded in their last two games.
In an opinion article for Manchester Evening News, Manchester United fan brand writer/presenter, Casey Evans has identified Alex Iwobi, Anthony Gordon and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as the three Everton dangermen Manchester United should be wary of in the Premier League clash.
Explaining why Iwobi can trouble Manchester United, Evans wrote : "Since he was converted from a winger into a central midfielder under Lampard, Iwobi's career has been injected with a new lease of life.
"He has been influential in the centre of the park for Everton this season and if United's midfield is not up to scratch he will look to exploit it.
"He offers a great amount of energy and is also able to carry the ball well meaning he can take it past his opponents. And if Iwobi ends up in the right position he can also be a goal threat as well."
Iwobi's impressive form was on display last month and highlighted by the fact that he was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month for September.
The Super Eagles star has provided game-winning assists in each of his last two matches in the Premier League.
