The Nigerian U-17 women's national team the Flamingos on Monday afternoon finished their Group B campaign in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 2-1 win against Chile to advance to the quarterfinals stage.
Allnigeriasoccer.com presents the player ratings in the game.
The Starters
Goalkeeper:
Faith Omilana : The keeper was rarely tested by the Chileans who had only t shots on target in the game, one being the late penalty. 6/10.
Defenders
Oluwatimininu Adeshina : The left back was substituted for Edidiong Etim when the team needed more firepower but she was good at her job and got forward a lot of times. One of the se tpieces takers in the team with her long throws and corner kicks. 7/10
Miracle Usani : The defender who had scored twice in the tournament so far was not on the score sheet this time but she remained as disciplined in her defensive duties as ever. 7/10.
Comfort Folorunsho : The centre-back who plays on the left side of the pivot was instrumental in ensuring that the Chileans had no sniff at goal. She made vital clearances and blocks and was shunted to the left back role when Adeshina was substituted. 7.5/10.
Shakirat Oyinlola : The central defender reads the game intelligently and was a match for anything the Chileans had in their locker. Assured performance. Won two aerial duels. 8/10.
Midfielders and strikers
Omamuzo Edafe : She was impressive playing from the right side of the midfield. She was however booked late on which led to the Chileans' penalty after a long VAR review. 6.5/10.
Blessing Emmanuel : The captain of the day put the team ahead with an early goal in the 4th minute when she rifled home her shot from the edge of the box. Booked in the second half. 7.5/10.
Taiwo Afolabi : The attacking midfielder was not influential as she was on Friday against New Zealand but it was still a good game for her. Afolabi's eye for the good passes still created several scoring chances. 6.5/10.
Bisola Mosaku : The right sided midfielder scored the team's second goal from close range albeit her decision-making needs to get better. 7/10.
Amina Bello : The skillful support striker hit a powerful shot 12 minutes from time but the Chilean keeper kept her a effort away for a corner. A very trickery player whose footwork opens up spaces for teammates. Booked in the game for a mistimed tackle. 8/10.
Opeyemi Ajakaye : Yet to open her goalscoring account in the World Cup proper but the top scorer in the Africa qualifying series continues to prove how deadly she could be.
Her thunderous shot in the 74th minute came off the crossbar. She assisted Emmanuel's goal and was chief creator of many scoring chances. 8/10
The Substitutes
Edidiong Etim : Replaced Adeshina as the coach sought more firepower. She was full of energy but could not convert one of the chance that came her way as she selflessly found a teammate when an attempt on goal could have been better. 6/10.
