FIFA U17 WWC : Ex-Super Eagles star urges Flamingos to remain focused ahead of USA clash
Published: October 20, 2022
Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has urged the Nigeria U-17 women's national team the Flamingos to remain focused when they face off with the United States in the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
Flamingos' striker Opeyemi Ajakaye was optimistic in an interview with Brila FM that they would defeat Chile by a minimum of three goals albeit they were only able to get past the South Americans by 2-1.
"For me, I just want to wish them well. USA will not be an easy game but they have to remain focused," Udeze told Brila FM.
"It's good to be confident but football is played on the pitch, they have to keep the concentration and not let their good results so far get into their heads.
"Confidence is good but they have to be remain humble," the onetime West Brom left-back stressed.
The team coached by Bankole Olowookere lost their first game 2-1 to Germany but defeated New Zealand 4-0 before the 2-1 win over Chile in their last Group B match on Tuesday.
The USA versus Nigeria game will kick off 12pm Nigerian time on Friday.
