Chukwuemeka makes cameo as Casemiro's looping header denies Chelsea win v Man Utd
Published: October 22, 2022
Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka was in action for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday evening.
Chukwuemeka was brought on for Ruben Lotus Cheek in the 79th minute, having seven touches and making three accurate passes.
This is the third time Chukwuemeka would be coming off the bench for Chelsea.
The first half began with Manchester United dictating the pace of the game. Erik Ten Hag's men were very direct from the onset, forcing Kepa Arrizabalaga into making some crucial saves.
Despite the dominance, the Red Devils were unable to breach Kepa's wall.
The half ended goalless, with both sides unable to find the back of the net.
In the second half Manchester United picked up where they left off, having a higher possession than the Blues.
The possession would go on to be useless in the 87th minute after Jorginho gave Chelsea the lead from the penalty spot.
In the dying minutes of the encounter, Casemiro scored with a looping header to ensure the points were shared.
Chukwuemeka has amassed a total of 43 minutes from the three games he has played in the English topflight this season.
