Published: October 27, 2022
Nigerian strikers Iyayi Atiemwen and Rasheed Akanbi are both in contention to play at the iconic old Trafford Stadium on Thursday evening when Sheriff Tiraspol face off with Premier League giants Manchester United.
Atiemwen and Akanbi were named in Sheriff's traveling party to England and landed in Manchester on the eve of the UEFA Europa League matchday five fixture.
The two Nigerian players and their teammates had a feel of the stadium on Wednesday evening.
A new coach will be in the Sheriff Tiraspol dugout against the Red Devils following the resignation of Croatian football manager Stjepan Tomas.
Viktor Mikhailov will take charge of the Moldovan Superliga giants this evening.
With nine points from their opening four matches, Manchester United are sure to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League if they avoid defeat, while Sheriff are in the hunt for a ticket into the knockout rounds of the Europa Conference League.
Atiemwen and Akanbi started for Sheriff in the the first leg played in Moldova last month.
