Porto coach confirms Super Eagles defender is unavailable against Pacos de Ferreira
Published: November 04, 2022Speaking to the national press in Portugal ahead of his side's Primeira Liga meeting with Paços de Ferreira, Porto coach Sérgio Conceição provided an injury update on his squad.
Conceição confirmed that he will not be able to call upon the services of Zaidu Sanusi against Paços de Ferreira at the Estádio Do Dragão (Porto).
Sanusi was receiving treatment on Friday as his teammates were training at the PortoGaia Sports Training and Training Center, in Olival - the final workout before tomorrow's game.
The left-back was forced off early in the second half as Porto sealed top spot in Group B of the UEFA Champions League by beating Atlético de Madrid 2-1 on Tuesday evening.
Sanusi has been diagnosed with a muscle tear in his left thigh adductor and is now rated as doubtful to add to his international caps when the Super Eagles face off with Portugal in a glamour friendly few days before the start of the 2022 World Cup.
This season, Sanusi has played sixteen games in all competitions for Porto, of which thirteen were starts.
The 25-year-old is first choice at left-back over Brazilian star Wendell, who has started six games in all competitions this term.
