Roster adjustment : Nigeria call in replacements for Osimhen, Ndah ahead of Portugal clash
Published: November 14, 2022The Nigeria Football Federation have made two adjustments to the Super Eagles roster ahead of their upcoming friendly against Portugal at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
Boavista loanee Chidozie Awaziem has been handed a late call-up as a replacement for Orlando Pirates star Olisa Ndah, who has withdrawn from the squad due to injury.
Ndah was not in the Orlando Pirates squad beaten 4-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in a Cup clash at the weekend.
Awaziem is a logical replacement for the South African-based defender as he has been arguably Nigeria's most in-form central defender in Europe this season with four goals in fourteen appearances for Hajduk Split in the Croatian SuperSport HNL.
In addition to Ndah, Victor Osimhen has also pulled out of the squad, citing injury, despite going the distance for Napoli in their 3-2 win against Udinese on Saturday.
Cyriel Dessers, who just returned from injury, replaces the Napoli striker.
Nigeria will take on World Cup-bound Portugal on Thursday, November 17, kickoff 1945 hours.
