Tottenham legend reckons ex-Flying Eagles invitee could depart Sheffield Wednesday

Tottenham Hotspur legend Chris Waddle reckons that former Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru could depart Sheffield Wednesday.
Representatives of Dele-Bashiru are negotiating a new deal with The Owls but no headway has been made regarding resolving the contract impasse.
The 21-year-old will enter the last six months of his contract with Sheffield Wednesday in the coming weeks, meaning he can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club next month.
Dele-Bashiru has been linked with possible moves to teams based in Turkey and the Netherlands.
If an agreement over a new deal cannot be reached, Sheffield Wednesday may consider selling him in January rather than lose him for nothing at the end of his contract next summer.
"I think he could be going. He’s got another month (of his contract) before he can speak (to other clubs).” Waddle told YorkshireLive.
"I’ve seen some of the links with clubs in Holland for example. Ideally Wednesday would tie him down but if he wants to leave at the end of the season then that’s up to him.
"The trouble Wednesday have is that in League One you cannot throw daft wages at players. You don’t know what is going to happen.
"They have to sit down and see what they can afford and if he doesn’t accept it then he’ll have to leave. You have to sometimes accept things."
Waddle has suggested that it would be better for Dele-Bashiru to stay put at Sheffield Wednesday, where he is guaranteed first team football, adding that a move to a foreign club may not benefit him.
"Unfortunately some people think the grass is always greener on the other side. It might be but then again he might go to Holland and sit on the bench and wish he had stayed at Wednesday.
“He’d be better off playing every week, getting the consistency and then he will get the big boys being linked. Obviously something has broken down in the talks which is a shame."
Dele-Bashiru has six goals and four assists in 65 games since Sheffield Wednesday signed him from Manchester City in the summer of 2020.
