How Super Eagles coach Peseiro reacted to Argentina's World Cup win

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has congratulated Argentina on winning their third FIFA World Cup.

The South Americans defeated defending champions France 4-2 on penalties in a thrilling final that ended 3-3 after extra time.

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot after his hat-trick in the showpiece, while his teammate at club level Lionel Messi won the Best Player award.

Highly-rated Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández clinched the Best Young Player award and the Golden Glove was awarded to Emiliano Martínez.

In the penalty shootout, Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni failed to convert their spot kicks, before Gonzalo Montiel netted the winning penalty to spark wild celebrations for Argentina fans.

Peseiro, who was in attendance at the Lusail Stadium, Lusail, was impressed with the quality of football played by both teams, and admitted that Argentina deserved to win the World Cup.

The Portuguese football tactician took to Twitter to pay tribute to the South American giants who also won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986.

"Congratulations Argentina on winning your third World Cup! " Peseiro wrote.

"It was an exciting game, what an incredible match! You deserve every minute of this title, well done!"
