Published: December 23, 2022Super Eagles attacker Josh Maja, who was voted the Ligue 2 Player of the Month for October 2022, received his UNFP trophy on Thursday morning at Bordeaux's training center.
Fabien Safanjon, vice-president of the UNFP, handed the Nigerian his trophy in person at the end of the first team training session.
Maja was recognized as the standout performer of the month in Ligue 2, ahead of Gautier Lloris (Le Havre AC) and Julien Maggiotti (Stade Lavallois MFC).
It was a well deserved honour for the Sunderland Academy product who has been in brilliant form this season with seven goals and three assists to his name from fifteen appearances in the second tier of French football.
In October, Maja started all the four matches played by Bordeaux, scoring two goals against Stade Lavallois and Metz.
Maja is the first Bordeaux player to be voted the Ligue 2 Player of the Month since April 2009, following in the footsteps of Yoann Gourcuff.
The Super Eagle succeeds EA Guingamp attacking midfielder Jérémy Livolant as the Player of the Month in the division.
