January transfer window : Predicting three Super Eagles players likely to be on the move
Published: December 24, 2022
The January transfer window opens in just about a week's time and Nigerian football fans will be keen to find out which Super Eagles players will be on the radar of clubs across Europe.
Allnigeriasoccer.com's Izuchukwu Michael predicts the first set of Nigerian players likely to linked to other clubs in the first week of the window.
1. Francis Uzoho
The Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper was largely blamed for Nigeria's failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The keeper who was in Nigeria's 2018 World Cup party was beaten by a Thomas Partey's low shot at the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja on March 29 in the return leg of the playoffs.
Ghana eventually qualified for Qatar 2022 on the away goals rule after 0-0 in Kumasi amd 1-1 draws in Abuja.
However the club form of Uzoho especially on the UEFA Europa League has convinced clubs in Europe that he can do a decent job for them.
All Nigeria Soccer believes that with the World Cup winning feat of Emi Martinez who is reportedly on the radar of Manchester United as possible replacement for David de Gea, Aston Villa will look at the direction of Uzoho when the search for the likely successor to the Argentine goalkeeper begins.
2. Samuel Kalu
The former Bordeaux forward joined Championship side Watford last season but has found life difficult at the Vicarage Road thus far.
He has played in only six Championship games this season and started in just one of them across 23 fixtures.
The out-of -favour winger's last league game was on November 12 for Watford against Bristol City. He's yet to score a goal for his club so far.
Mid level clubs in search of affordable deals would likely make advances at the agents of the Nigerian for a possible loan offer until the end of the season.
3. Samuel Chukwueze
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze will also be in the news for a possible January transfer move out of Villarreal.
The former youth international has thrived with the Yellow Submarine but could be looking to explore the possibility of changing base.
Chukwueze has been linked lately with, Aston Villa where his former club Unai Emery now works.
Chukwueze may still get the interest of others clubs after what seemed like calmness on that but the Spanish side would request for a suitable replacement aside demanding good fee for the Nigerian before a deal can be sanctioned.
