On-loan Gunner Balogun outranks Mbappe, Neymar in key goalscoring stat; Moffi second
Published: December 29, 2022
Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun is the top ranked player in the French Ligue 1 in a key goalscoring stat.
The England U21 international of Nigerian descent is having a banner season with eight goals in fifteen appearances in the topflight.
Reims have managed sixteen goals in total in the division with Balogun accounting for fifty percent of their goals and this is the best ratio in Ligue 1, ahead of Lorient striker Terem Moffi (38.5 percent) and his former Arsenal teammate Alexandre Lacazette (37 percent).
Paris Saint Germain superstars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are the top two leading scorers in the Ligue 1 with 13 and 11 goals respectively but the 2022 World Cup stars have not been as influential as Balogun with respect to their goal ratios.
While Mbappe has accounted for 28.9 percent of the goals scored by PSG and is in eighth place, Neymar is a distant seventeenth with a percentage of 24.4.
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon is the seventh best player in Ligue 1, with the Nantes player scoring 29.4 percent of his team's goals this season.
Balogun and his Reims teammates return to competitive action after the World Cup break on Thursday evening when they take on Lesley Ugochukwu's Rennes at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II.
