Anglo-Nigerian striker battles Mount, 3 others for Chelsea Goal of the Month
Published: December 29, 2022
Talented Anglo-Nigerian striker Louis Flower has been nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for December 2022.
The official website of Chelsea has compiled a shortlist of six eye-catching goals from across all levels of the club during the month of December, with Flower making the cut.
The 18-year-old was nominated for his effort in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Aston Villa in an U18 Premier League game on December 3.
After coming off the bench, Flower put the icing on the cake in the first minute of second half stoppage time.
He received a precise pass from Kiano Dyer down the inside-left channel, advanced menacingly before cutting inside the defender and producing a cool side-footed finish to seal the points.
Flower's strike is up against efforts from Mason Mount, Lauren James, Guro Reiten and Sam Kerr, who has been double nominated for the monthly accolade.
Flower is aiming to become the second player of African descent to win Chelsea's Goal of the Month this season, after Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly who won the award for August.
