'Makes me feel much better' - Peseiro speaks on form of Super Eagles duo Osimhen, Lookman
Published: January 27, 2023Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro says he is delighted with the form of two of his players Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Charlton Athletic academy product Lookman is back to his best after joining Atalanta last summer, while Osimhen is doing what he knows how to do best - scoring goals.
Osimhen is the leading scorer in the Italian Serie A with thirteen goals to his name, two more than second placed Lookman, who has played mostly as a second striker this season.
Peseiro noted that the future of Nigerian football is bright and hopes the two strikers replicate their form at club level when the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers resume in March.
"It's an exceptional moment for Nigerian footballers and knowing you can count on two strikers like them is something incredible," Peseiro said to Il Mattino, via Tuttomercatoweb.
"I'm telling the truth: knowing you have two strikers like that makes me feel much better, it makes me feel much better.
"At this point I hope they bring their positivity to the national team as well".
Peserio went on to reveal that he has a good relationship with Osimhen and Lookman and they were recently in touch after finding the back of the net in the last round of matches in the Serie A.
"We talk practically every week and in fact I heard them right after the last goals scored. Victor is incredible, he is never satisfied. Even when he scores and is decisive".
Osimhen is the top scorer in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with five goals, while Lookman opened his goalscoring for the national team in Nigeria's record 10-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe last June.
