Bayern Munich-owned midfielder confident Flying Eagles can qualify for World Cup
Published: February 23, 2023
Bayern Munich-owned central midfielder Daniel Francis believes the Flying Eagles have what it takes to qualify for the U20 World Cup after they beat the hosts Egypt by a lone goal in their second group match on Wednesday at the ongoing U20 AFCON.
Solomon Agbalaka netted what proved to be the game-winning goal with a bullet header in the 71st minute, after getting on the end of a brilliant comer taken by Muhammad Aminu.
With the win, their first of the tournament, the team coached by Ladan Bosso only need to avoid defeat in their final group game against Mozambique to stand a good chance of progressing to the last eight.
Francis, the dreadlocked midfielder who is currently on loan at Austrian Bundesliga side A. Klagenfurt is confident that the Flying Eagles can beat Mozambique in their last group match and even go all the way to win the AFCON.
"I know the team very well as I have played with some of the players in the past and they are very very good players," Dada said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"In terms of ability I don't think you will get a better side in the whole tournament, because the coaches did a very good job in the selection. They will jell more and more as the competition progresses."
Dada had good things to say about Flying Eagles coach Bosso, who was in the Nigeria dugout at the FIFA U20 World Cup sixteen years ago.
"I have also heard so much about the tactical abilities of Coach Ladan Bosso and his ability to motivate his players. He is a very good and experienced manager and coach.
"I am sure that he will be able to guide the team to the needed victory on Saturday and even go on to win the tournament," he concluded.
Dada was a member of the Golden Eaglets squad to the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
