Tosin makes first start since January as Fulham are thrashed by Arsenal
Published: March 12, 2023
Nigeria-eligible central defender Tosin Adarabioyo made his first Premier League start since January 12 as Fulham were thrashed 3-0 by Arsenal in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
The Manchester City academy product, who last started against Chelsea before the visit of the Gunners, replaced Issa Diop at the back.
Gabriel Magalhães, who got the winner when the two sides met in the reverse fixture back in August, opened the scoring with a brilliant header in the 21st minute after Trossard delivered a corner-kick into the box.
The Premier League table toppers had a two-goal advantage five minutes later as Gabriel Martinelli beat Bernd Leno with a header at the far post.
And the leaders were absolutely coasting in first half stoppage time, increasing their lead through Martin Ødegaard.
Arsenal had already won the game by halftime and it was a case of managing the game in the second half.
With fifteen minutes left on the clock, Tosin had a chance to pull one back for the Cottagers but his header from a tight angle was palmed away by the Arsenal goalkeeper.
Arsenal have a commanding five-point lead in the title race and it could become an eight-point gap next weekend if they beat Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
