Revealed : How Moffi's goals have proven to be more valuable than Balogun's in Ligue 1
Published: March 20, 2023Folarin Balogun and Terem Moffi are two of the leading scorers in the Ligue 1 this season scoring a combined 32 goals.
Balogun was on target in Stade de Reims' 2-1 loss to Marseille at the weekend to take his tally to 17 for the season.
On the other hand, Moffi who is on loan with Nice couldn't add to his 15-goal haul as he was ineligible to face his parent club Lorient.
While Balogun has more goals than Moffi, it is the latter whose goals have won more points for his teams.
What do I mean?
Moffi has scored more match-winning goals than the Arsenal loanee.
A match-winning goal is any goal that guarantees the victory of a team in a football match without any additional goal.
For instance, in a 2-0 win, the player responsible for scoring the first goal got the match-winning goal and in a 4-2 win, it is the player that scored the third goal that will be adjudged to have scored the match-winning goal.
This season, Moffi has scored 5 match-winning goals
With 10 games left to be played, this might change before the end of the season but as it stands, it is the Super Eagles' striker that has won more points for his side than the Nigeria-eligible striker.
