Despite Middlesbrough losing 2-1 to Premier League-bound Burnley at the Riverside Stadium on Good Friday, Super Eagles-eligible striker Chuba Akpom continued his impressive form in front of goal.
The Hale End Academy graduate became the first Boro player to score in seven consecutive games at the Riverside Stadium when he converted a penalty in the 48th minute.
Akpom has netted against each of the last six teams he has faced in the Championship, having previously found the net against Reading, Swansea City, Stoke City, Preston North End and Huddersfield Town.
It was his 26th goal from thirty three appearances in the second tier, and it also extended his lead at the top of the scoring charts by eight goals, ahead of Coventry City's Viktor Gyökeres.
In the top four divisions of English football comprising the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two, only Manchester City's goal machine Erling Haaland has scored more than Akpom this season.
The Norwegian sensation netted his 30th goal in the Premier League with a spectacular scissors kick as Manchester City thrashed Southampton 4-1 at the St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday.
Akpom is one of the most sought-after strikers in England on the back of his fine form.
Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach, plus teams in the Premier League are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
