Lille also in the running to sign Arsenal-owned center forward Balogun
Published: April 15, 2023
Monaco and Marseille are not the only French Ligue 1 clubs targeting a summer move for Anglo-American-Nigerian center forward Folarin Balogun.
According to French sports daily L'Equipe, via Le 10 Sport, Balogun is also drawing interest from Lille. who could be in the market for a striker at the end of the season with the future of their talismanic forward Jonathan David up in the air.
The Canada international is reportedly on the wishlist of Arsenal, AC Milan and RB Leipzig among others.
Balogun has performed beyond expectations since joining Stade de Reims on a season-long loan, with nineteen goals in 31 all-competition appearances.
The Hale End Academy graduate appears likely to head for the exit door at Arsenal in the summer due to concerns about his lack of first team opportunities.
Balogun has made ten appearances for Arsenal's first team, the last of which came against Sunderland in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup in December 2021.
Clubs in Germany, Italy, France, Spain and England are closely monitoring the situation of the England international.
Manager Mikel Arteta has several options in attack including Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, which could see Balogun declared surplus to requirements.
