'They have lit up the team' - Flying Eagles coach counting on Inter, AC Milan whizkids for World Cup
Published: May 01, 2023
Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has praised the enormous talents of Italian-based duo of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro and Victor Eletu who play for the youth sides of rival clubs, Inter Milan and AC Milan respectively in the Serie A.
Former Wikki Tourists coach, Bosso had prosecuted the West African Football Union tournament and the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt with largely his home-grown talents.
However, the team has been beefed up with 12 foreign-based Nigerian players who are in the provisional squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Bosso told the Nigerian media that he was keen to feature 75% of players that were part of his team to the African tournaments but that could significantly change with the addition of the foreign legion.
The Flying Eagles coach was particular about the addition of the duo of Ebenezer Akinsanrimo and Victor Eletu.
"We have good players particularly the ones in Milan (Akinsanmiro and Eletu). They have lit up the team and we are ready for the tournament," Bosso further told Brila FM.
As exclusively revealed by allnigeriasoccer.com three days ago, the two Milan clubs have assured the leadership of the Nigerian Federation that the two midfielders will be released for the World Cup, and the duo are guaranteed roster spots.
Nigeria will open their campaign at the tournament with a game against the Dominican Republic on May 21.
The two-time finalists at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 1989 and 2005 will then face tough battles against Italy and Brazil in their group.
