Official : Anglo-Nigerian player returns from loan spell to train with Arsenal first team
Published: May 07, 2023
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta invited England youth international of Nigerian descent Miguel Azeez to train with the first team on Saturday, on the eve of their Premier League match against Newcastle United at St. James Park.
The Hale End Academy product was spotted working out with the Gunners first team stars at London Colney yesterday.
Arteta won't be able to count on the services of Azeez for the match with the Magpies as he is still a player of Wigan Athletic in theory rather than in reality.
The 20-year-old has been ruled out of Wigan Athletic's dead rubber match against Rotherham United on Monday.
Wigan Athletic confirmed through their official website that Azeez has returned to his parent club Arsenal.
"Miguel is back at Arsenal. He is a talented kid. I wish him good luck for the rest of his career," manager of the Latics, Shaun Maloney stated.
"I’ve no problems with Miguel and his family and wish them all the best."
Azeez has not played competitive first-team football since January 21, 2023 when he lasted 59 minutes on the pitch against Luton Town in a Championship game.
He played a couple of games for Wigan Athletic's development squad to gain invaluable match fitness.
