Nigeria U20 WC squad announcement : 4 foreign-based pros, 2 ex-Super Eagles invitees, 15 others selected
Published: May 08, 2023The Nigeria Football Federation have announced the Flying Eagles roster for the upcoming 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup that will take place in Argentina.
Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has selected three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders and six strikers in a 21-man squad.
Four foreign-based professionals have earned call-ups for the World Cup, namely Trelleborg central defender Abel Ogwuche, Botev Plodviv duo Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi, and AC Milan youth team midfielder Victor Eletu.
Goalkeeper Chijoke Aniagboso and defender Daniel Bameyi, who were part of the Super Eagles squad for the back-to-back 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea Bissau, have been included on the roster.
The Flying Eagles are boosted by the return of midfielder Daniel Daga, who has seemingly returned to full fitness after suffering an injury at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria will open group play against the Dominican Republic on May 21, followed by matches against Italy and Brazil on May 24 and May 27 respectively.
