Flying Eagles face Colombia in friendly as part of preparations for Brazil showdown

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Flying Eagles will be facing Colombia in an international friendly as part of their preparations for the showdown against five-time world champions Brazil at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Nigeria U20 boss Ladan Bosso stated before the team's trip to Argentina that two friendlies against World Cup participants not in Group D are being lined up, but only one friendly has been confirmed as of now.

On Tuesday, May 16, the Flying Eagles will be taking on Colombia, who have a similar playing style to Brazil.

The Flying Eagles have never faced Colombia at  the World Cup, and the friendly will be a good test before the meeting with Brazil at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona, La Plata on May 27.

Coached by Héctor Cárdenas, Colombia qualified for the World Cup by virtue of finishing third at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship, where they held Brazil to two draws (1-1 and 0-0).

The friendly between Colombia and Nigeria will kick off at 2000 hours Nigerian time at a yet to be determined venue.

Nigeria will open group play against the Dominican Republic on May 21, followed by matches against Italy and Brazil.
