Confirmed team news: Super-sub Sarki left out of Flying Eagles matchday squad v South Korea
Published: June 04, 2023
Exciting winger Haliru Sarki will not take to the pitch in this evening's 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup clash between South Korea and Nigeria at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Sarki has been left out of the Flying Eagles matchday squad after failing a fitness test in the lead-up to the game.
The Mahanaim FC product suffered an injury in the second half of the Flying Eagles' 2-0 win over Argentina on May 31.
His late diving header in the first minute of stoppage time extinguished any hopes of a comeback from the six-time world champions.
Sarki has been effective off the bench in four consecutive matches at the ongoing World Cup with his blistering pace and flair which has caused opposition defences a lot of problems.
As a result of Sarki's injury-enforced absence, manager Ladan Bosso has picked only twenty players in the Flying Eagles matchday squad versus South Korea.
