Napoli identify replacement for Osimhen amid Mbappe transfer saga at PSG
Published: July 09, 2023
Amid the transfer saga between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain, Italian side Napoli are reportedly keeping tabs on Lille striker Jonathan David as the replacement for Victor Osimhen.
Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain have been at loggerheads over the future of the former Monaco striker this summer.
The back-and-forth between both parties started when Mbappe reportedly submitted a letter, informing the Ligue 1 champions of his intention to leave for free next summer and rejected an option to extend his contract.
Responding to Mbappe's letter, PSG denied his request to leave for free next summer, telling him to either sign a new contract before the end of the month or risk being placed on the transfer list.
According to Calciomercato, Napoli have identified Jonathan Davies as Osimhen's replacement to prevent being caught unprepared if a deal comes for the Nigerian striker.
PSG are one of the reported suitors of Osimhen and could go all out to sign the Nigerian striker should an offer arrive for Mbappe.
In view of this, Napoli are monitoring the situation with the Lille striker, who is valued at about 60 million euros.
Born in 2000, David joined Lille from Gent in 2020 as replacement for Osimhen and scored 24 goals and registered four assists in 37 league games last season.
