Official: Red Bull Salzburg loan out Super Eagles midfielder to Bundesliga rivals Wolfsberger AC
Published: August 23, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg have announced that Super Eagles midfielder Samson Tijani has joined Bundesliga rivals Wolfsberger AC.
Tijani will be spending the remainder of the 2023-2024 campaign on loan at Wolfsberger AC, who are fifth in the Austrian top-flight and one of the four unbeaten teams after four games in the division.
The former Golden Eagles captain joined Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2020, a year after starring at the Fifa U17 World Cup in Brazil.
Since then, the Collins Edwin product has appeared in five official matches for the Red Bulls club.
The 21-year-old previously spent time at partner club FC Liefering and was a loan player at TSV Egger Glas Hartberg, making 34 appearances combined for both teams.
Having missed the whole of last season due to a broken tibia and fibula, Tijani will now continue his development at Wolfsberger AC, where he'll be aiming to play on a regular basis.
The midfielder made his UEFA Champions League debut for Red Bull Salzburg against Bayern Munich on March 8, 2022, coming off the bench for the last 23 minutes.
Tijani made his Super Eagles debut in an international friendly against Algeria in October 2020.
