Nottingham Forest Player and Goal of the Month: Super Eagles star Awoniyi scoops both awards
Published: September 11, 2023
Taiwo Awoniyi has been rewarded handsomely for his brilliant start to the season for Nottingham Forest.
The Super Eagles forward has received Nottingham Forest's Player of the Month and Goal of the Month Awards for August.
Awoniyi has either scored or assisted for Steve Cooper's side since the start of the new Premier League season, bagging 3 goals and 1 assist.
Having netted in his first 3 Premier League games, he became the first Forest player to score in 7 consecutive games, with the former Union Berlin striker also scoring in the last four Premier League games in 2022-2023.
Awoniyi's strike in Nottingham Forest's 3-2 loss to Manchester United also won the club's Goal of the Month, getting 38 percent of the votest.
The 26-year-old is also in the running for the Premier League Player of the Month alongside Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison, Ballon d'Or nominee and Manchester City midfielder Rodri, Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma and West Ham's Jarrod Bowen.
He will be looking to add to his tally when Forest host Burnley on matchday 5 of the Premier League after the international break.
