'Needs to leave Napoli' - Ex-Nigeria coach Oliseh sends transfer message to Chelsea, Man Utd-linked striker
Published: September 28, 2023
Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has blasted Napoli for the treatment meted out to Victor Osimhen following his penalty miss against Bologna last weekend on matchday 5 of the Serie A and has urged the Ballon d'Or nominee to leave the Italian outfit.
A video mocking the 24-year-old would later be posted on Napoli's official TikTok handle making a mockery of the Nigerian striker.
The incident has not gone down well with Osimhen and his agent, Roberto Calenda who has vowed to institute a legal action against the Parthenopeans.
English Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the fallout between Osimhen and Napoli, and could step up their interest in the Nigeria international if the relationship between club and player is not repaired.
Oliseh has urged Osimhen to quit Napoli as soon as possible although a transfer seems unlikely in the January transfer window given that he will be away on international duty with the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
"Forever proud to be Nigerian; One must show personality, work hard & refuse to be intimidated. let Racists and ingrates talk!" Oliseh wrote on X.
"That's why they are eternal losers who secretly wish they were created like you! Osimhen needs to leave Napoli as soon as yesterday!!."
Osimhen put his differences aside yesterday as he helped Napoli to a 4-1 victory over Udinese at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona by scoring a goal in the encounter.
He has now netted 4 goals in the Serie A this season, one less than leading scorer Lautaro Martinez.
