'We cannot rule anything out' - Agent claims there's an opportunity for Denmark U21 star to play for Super Eagles
Published: November 14, 2023
Nigerian agent Kingsley Ogbodo has claimed that there's an opportunity for talented Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu to play for the Super Eagles in the future.
A left-back by trade, Dorgu was promoted to Lecce's first team this season and the Denmark U21 international has impressed in matches against some of the top teams in European football such as Juventus, AS Roma and AC Milan.
In Lecce's last game, he was named their best player as the Giallorossi recovered from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with seven-time European champions AC Milan.
Dorgu's performances for Lecce have not gone unnoticed, with Denmark's national team boss Kasper Hjulmand keeping tabs on the exciting young player with a view to handing him a call-up.
Dorgu is currently away with the Danish U21 national team, but it is not certain that the Scandinavians are in the driving seat for his services at senior level.
The 2004-born player is eligible to represent the Super Eagles by virtue of being born to Nigerian parents, and his agent has sensationally claimed that Nigeria are ready to offer him a place in the national team.
"There is an opportunity for Patrick to play for the Nigerian national team, and we cannot rule anything out," Ogbodo said to bold.dk.
"Right now he is away with the U21 national team, to which he gives his full focus, but we do not know what the future holds."
The Nigeria Football Federation attempted to recruit Bournemouth star Philip Billing to play for the Super Eagles before he became cap-tied to his country of birth, Denmark.
