Confirmed: Box-to-box midfielder who likes to create and score goals sign new deal with Chelsea
Published: December 02, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that Academy midfielder Leo Castledine has signed a new contract.
Castledine has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea, committing his future to the club until at least the end of the 2026-2027 season.
He has been described by Chelsea's official website as an attacking midfield player who has the ability to play box-to-box, he likes to create and score goals and is very tenacious in the tackle.
An England U19 international, he has started every single game played by Chelsea's development squad in the Premier League 2 this term, registering four goals and five assists.
He also started the three games played by the Blues in the EFL Trophy, going the distance on each occasion.
Castledine received his first-ever call-up to Chelsea's first team last month for a Carabao Cup fixture with Blackburn Rovers but was not utilized off the bench by manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The 18-year-old has played nonstop at Chelsea since joining them at U15 level from AFC Wimbledon and made his competitive debut for the U18s while still a schoolboy.
