'I will not allow disrespect from anybody' - Osimhen fires back at Finidi in Instagram Live rant
Published: June 15, 2024Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has taken to Instagram Live to address recent allegations made by Finidi George regarding his commitment to playing for Nigeria's national football team.
The controversy arose after Finidi George questioned Osimhen's dedication following his withdrawal from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Finidi George suggested that Osimhen selectively chooses the games he participates in for Nigeria, expressing frustration over the striker's absence during critical matches.
Nigeria recently faced a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic, leaving them in a precarious fifth position in Group C of the qualifiers.
Responding to these accusations, Victor Osimhen clarified the situation, explaining that he promptly informed Finidi George about his injury after receiving medical advice.
Osimhen revealed, "Immediately I did the MRI Scan, the next day, the doctor called me and I went to see him in his office and he had a conversation with me.
"And I called Finidi immediately, he was on another call and I informed my friend to make a video of myself and the doctor speaking to Finidi George and I will post the video on my story when I finish the live session."
Furthermore, Osimhen expressed his disappointment with the allegations, affirming his unwavering commitment to both club and country. "I don't address rumours, I let anybody believe what they want about me. And everyone knows I give total commitment whether I am playing for my club or country," he stated firmly.
He also emphasized his stance on respect, stating, "But I will not allow disrespect from anybody because I respect people before disrespecting them."
Meanwhile, in a related development, Finidi George has resigned from his position as the Super Eagles manager.
