Dutch-born right-back Hamdi Akujobi has been named in Whoscored.com's Eredivisie Team of the Week for matchday seventeen.
The defender cracked the Best XI after his outstanding performance for Almere City FC in their 3-0 rout of his former employers SC Heerenveen.
Born in Rotterdam, Akujobi has chosen to represent Nigeria over the Netherlands at international level and attended a Flying Eagles training camp before the 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup.
Hamdi comes from a footballing family; his father, Chika Akujobi, who once managed former Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo, played professional football for Heracles.
Hamdi Akujobi is one of five Almere City players named in the Eredivisie Team of the Week, alongside Joey Jacobs, Vasilios Zagaritis, Adi Nalić and Junior Kadile.
Completing the Best XI are Jasper Schendelaar (PEC Zwolle), Terence Kongolo (NAC Breda), Nick Doodeman (Willem II Tilburg), Malik Tillman (PSV Eindhoven), Alessio Da Cruz (Fortuna Sittard), and Ringo Meerveld (Willem II Tilburg).
Against SC Heerenveen, Akujobi registered a joint-team high three tackles, while making one interception, two clearances and one block.
The 24-year-old showcased his attacking skills, earning a game-high five fouls, completing one dribble, and delivering one shot on target.
This season, Akujobi has started all the games played by Almere City FC in the Dutch top-flight, except for the opening day defeat to AZ Alkmaar.
