Mouloudia Club d'Oran set date to determine future of new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle

According to a press release, Algerian outfit Mouloudia Club of Oran have set a date to determine the future of Malian football tactician Eric Chelle.
Ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the former Lens central defender was appointed as the coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles on Tuesday, January 7.
It was an announcement that took everyone by surprise, given that Eric Chelle is not a free agent.
Chelle took charge of MC Oran's training session on Wednesday and will be in the dugout when they take on Union sportive de Sétif in the Coupe Nationale on Saturday, January 11.
Mouloudia's leadership met with the Malian coach and the outcome of this meeting was a temporary decision to delay any official statements about his future until after the upcoming match against Union sportive de Sétif.
"Eric Chelle will continue to perform his duties as head coach during this match," the statement said.
"Coach Chelle will supervise the team at the cup meeting as normal, the club management confirms.
"A final meeting has to be held after he returns to Oran for a decision on this matter."
Dismissed by the Malian Football Federation (Fémafoot) last June, Chelle's record at the head of the Eagles is fourteen wins, five draws and three defeats.
With the Super Eagles in a precarious position in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Chelle’s immediate priority will be to prepare the team for two crucial games in March 2025—away to Rwanda and at home against Zimbabwe.
