2025 U20 Afcon: CAF picks Flying Eagles striker Kparobo Arierhi as one of the rising stars to watch
Published: April 29, 2025
Kparobo Arierhi has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects at the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025, with Nigeria placing great hopes on the prolific forward to inspire their campaign.
The Flying Eagles striker is one of five standout players identified by CAF Online as talents ready to make a major impact at the tournament.
Arierhi’s rise to prominence began at the WAFU U-20 Championship, where he scored twice in the final to help Nigeria lift the regional title.
His performance in that competition confirmed his growing reputation as a reliable and clinical finisher.
Last season, Arierhi made headlines in The Creative Championship League, scoring an astonishing 22 goals in just 15 matches.
His remarkable scoring record has made him a central figure in Nigeria’s plans as they aim to reclaim their place among Africa’s top youth sides and secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
His movement, instinct inside the box, and ability to convert chances under pressure make him one of the most dangerous strikers in the competition.
Nigeria, seven-time champions of the U-20 AFCON, are looking to build on their rich tradition in youth football, and Arierhi’s form could be decisive in their push for another continental title.
He is joined on CAF’s watchlist by four other standout players: Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie, who impressed at the WAFU Zone B Championship; South Africa’s Jody Ah Shene, known for his speed and creativity; Egypt’s Mohamed Zaalouk, a sharp attacker currently on loan at Future FC; and Senegal’s Pierre Dorival, a midfield powerhouse developed by Olympique Lyonnais.
With scouts from top European clubs in attendance, the tournament offers a perfect platform for Arierhi to attract international attention.
His ability to consistently score goals at club and international youth level places him among the most promising forwards on the continent.
As the competition intensifies in Egypt, all eyes will be on Arierhi to lead the Flying Eagles’ attack and prove himself as one of the stars of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
