Transfer watch: Leicester City midfielder Ndidi up for grabs for N19b this summer
Published: April 29, 2025
Wilfred Ndidi has a Premier League relegation clause in his contract that allows the Nigeria international to leave Leicester City at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The Foxes became the second team relegated from the English Premier League, after Southampton, following a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Easter Sunday.
Four matches from the end of the season, Leicester City are eighteen points adrift of seventeenth-placed West Ham United.
According to BBC Sport football news reporter, Nizaar Kinsella, Leicester midfielder Ndidi is available for a £9m (approximately N19 billion in Nigerian currency) relegation release clause this summer, which was activated nine days ago following the Foxes' relegation.
Despite intense speculation over a potential switch to Everton last summer, the Nath Boys academy product committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new three-year contract, valid until June 30, 2027.
Ndidi's future is once again poised to be a major talking point this summer, with Leicester dropping back into the Championship.
The 28-year-old, who joined Leicester City from Racing Genk in January 2017, has directly participated in seventeen goals (7 goals, 10 assists) in 63 appearances across all competitions over the last two seasons.
One of the longest-serving players in the current Leicester City squad, Ndidi reached a milestone of 300 appearances for the club during last weekend's loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
