Lookman's fitness concern: Atalanta delay announcement of provisional squad to face AS Roma tonight
Published: May 12, 2025
Atalanta have delayed the announcement of their provisional squad for Monday night's Serie A clash against AS Roma at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman is racing to recover from inflammation in his right Achilles tendon.
However, as of yesterday, he was in contention to be included in the gameday squad to face AS Roma, having trained fully with his teammates.
According to SOS FANTA, Atalanta have postponed their squad announcement until Monday morning in hopes that Lookman recovers in time.
The next few hours will be decisive in assessing his chances of making the bench for Monday's potential Champions League decider against Roma.
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini intends to give Ademola Lookman every chance to prove his fitness, with the final call hinging on the player's personal feedback and discussions with Atalanta's medical and technical teams
Lookman ended an eight-game goal drought for club and country in his last outing in the Italian top-flight, finding the net in the 47th minute of Atalanta's 4-0 road win against Monza.
The former Everton, Fulham and Leicester City winger missed five games in February 2025 due to knee problems and was not called up for the first two matches of the season.
