Felix Agu: Werder Bremen ace who wants to play for Super Eagles sets record on Bundesliga's final day
Published: May 20, 2025
Werder Bremen wingback Felix Agu set a record on the final day of the 2024-2025 Bundesliga season.
The Green-Whites recorded their ninth away win of the season on Saturday, thrashing Heidenheim 4-1 at the Voith-Arena, with Agu in action for 72 minutes,
Werder Bremen took control with Romano Schmid's 14th-minute penalty and Jens Stage's 33rd-minute strike, extended their lead through Marvin Ducksch in the 66th, and despite Luca Kerber pulling one back for Heidenheim in the 80th, substitute Keke Topp sealed the victory in the 86th minute.
According to the official website of Werder Bremen, Felix Agu reached a top speed of 36.31 kilometers per hour during the win versus Heidenheim, the highest speed of the 34th Bundesliga matchday.
With a maximum speed of 36.31 km/h, the 1.8-meter defender earned eighth place among the league's fastest players in the 2024-2025 season.
Agu registered three goals and one assist in twenty-two matches over the course of the season, while logging 1,761 minutes.
Born in Osnabruck, Agu is eligible to play for Nigeria through his father and is not provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth as he was an unused substitute in European U21 Championship qualifiers against Wales and Belgium in 2019.
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle's efforts to secure the defender's international allegiance have received a major boost, thanks to the defender's recent admission that he's eager to don the Super Eagles jersey.
Although he is under contract until June 2027, Agu has been linked with a departure from Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window, with Premier League clubs credited with an interest.
