Unity Cup: Chukwueze, Nwabali report for Super Eagles duty in London; 22 players in camp
Published: May 26, 2025
The Super Eagles' preparations for the 2025 Unity Cup are gathering momentum in London, with 22 players now present at the team’s camp ahead of their opening match against Ghana.
Among the latest arrivals are AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, adding further quality to an already impressive squad.
Their arrival boosts the atmosphere within the team, with players said to be “chilling” and bonding as they await the final four members of the squad.
Head coach Eric Chelle is overseeing tactical sessions as he looks to strike the right balance between experienced internationals and promising home-based talents ahead of the highly anticipated clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Key Europe-based players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Cyriel Dessers, Felix Agu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Nathan Tella, and Semi Ajayi are already in camp.
They are joined by NPFL veteran Ahmed Musa and several domestic league stars including Junior Nduka, Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojetoye, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Papa Mustapha, Saviour Isaac, Collins Ugwueze, Sikiru Alimi, and Abubakar Adamu.
The inclusion of Chukwueze and Nwabali further strengthens the squad as Chelle finalises his preparations for Nigeria’s opening fixture against Ghana on Wednesday, May 28.
The team is focused on building chemistry and implementing tactical strategies that will deliver success in the tournament, which also features Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.
Still expected in camp are Amas Obasogie, Chrisantus Uche, Maduka Okoye, and forward Tolu Arokodare.
The Unity Cup, running from May 27 to 31, is designed to promote football and cultural ties between African and Caribbean nations.
For Nigeria, the tournament serves as a key opportunity to assess new players, test formations, and build cohesion ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
With 22 players already on ground and spirits high in the camp, all eyes are on the Super Eagles as they prepare to face their age-old rivals in a match that promises excitement and intensity.
