'We had problems' - Coach Otto Addo admits Super Eagles maturity too much for Black Stars

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has attributed his team's 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the Unity Cup to the superior maturity and cohesion of the Nigerian side.

Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring for the Super Eagles, giving Nigeria an early lead, before a Razak Simpson own goal doubled their advantage before halftime.

Brandon Thomas-Asante pulled one back for the Ghanaians in the second half, but his effort wasn't enough to spark a comeback.

Speaking after the match at the Gtech Community Stadium, Addo admitted that the Black Stars struggled to match the tempo and organization of their rivals, citing the lack of familiarity among his players as a key factor in the loss.

"Like I said, it's not always easy, especially when we have players that haven't often played together," Addo said in his post-match press conference, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.

"I think Nigeria had a more mature team that could adapt faster. We had problems getting into the duels to press well, but also to defend well."

Despite the defeat, Addo can take pride in the Black Stars' performance against their long-time rivals in the second half.

With the win, Nigeria advances to the final of the Unity Cup, where they will face Jamaica.

Ghana, on the other hand, will battle Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff.
