'Osimhen was very angry' - Galatasaray insider reveals why Napoli loanee cancelled press conference
Published: June 02, 2025
Victor Osimhen reportedly cancelled a press conference after reacting furiously to media reports suggesting his imminent departure from Galatasaray, according to club commentator Ugur Karakullukçu.
Speaking on his YouTube channel via habersarikirmizi.com, Karakullukçu revealed that the Nigerian striker, currently on loan from Napoli, was visibly upset after coming across a post claiming he would soon announce his exit.
"I learned that Osimhen was very angry the other day," Karakullukçu said.
"There was a news story at noon saying 'He will announce his departure'. When he saw the post, he went crazy, they could hardly contain it."
Karakullukçu explained that Osimhen interpreted the timing and content of the post as an effort to provoke the fans against him.
"He got angry at the news that he was leaving. He got angry and cancelled the press conference. He was very angry until training, and calmed down a little after training," he continued.
The commentator also suggested the episode had affected club morale at the highest level, stating, "In other words, he thinks he was thrown in front of the fans. The club tried to calm him down. Even Dursun Özbek left very demoralized. He got angry that the Osimhen incident had come to this point."
While the club has not issued an official response, Karakullukçu’s remarks provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes pressure as speculation about the striker’s future intensifies.
The Super Eagles forward had an incredible loan spell with Galatasaray during the 2024–25 campaign, scoring 37 goals across all competitions—26 in the Super Lig, six in the UEFA Europa League, and five in the Turkish Cup.
His performances were pivotal in helping the Istanbul giants secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup, capping off a historic domestic double.
