Official: Besiktas dismiss reports they are in talks with Galatasaray alum Onyekuru
Published: June 02, 2025
Turkish Super Lig club Beşiktaş has officially dismissed reports linking the club with a potential transfer move for Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru.
The 27-year-old, who last played for Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia, had been speculated in Turkish media and on social platforms as a target for the black-and-white outfit ahead of the 2025/26 season.
A statement released by Beşiktaş on their official X handle addressed the rumours directly, describing them as "completely unfounded."
The club emphasized that no discussions had taken place with the former Galatasaray and Adana Demirspor attacker.
"The news published in the visual press and social media claiming that our Club held transfer talks with professional football player Henry Onyekuru is completely unfounded," the statement read.
Beşiktaş concluded the message by advising fans and the public to rely only on official channels for updates on the club's transfer activities.
"We kindly request that you follow all developments regarding our Football A Team through our official channels and not to rely on news that has not been shared by our Club," the statement added.
Onyekuru has been a familiar figure in Turkish football, having enjoyed notable spells with Galatasaray, where he won the Süper Lig title, and later with Adana Demirspor.
His pace, dribbling, and ability to stretch defenses made him a standout in his time in Turkey.
However, after moving to the Saudi Pro League, his name has resurfaced in transfer speculation during each window.
Despite the frequent rumours, Beşiktaş’s swift denial puts to rest any suggestion of his return to Istanbul via the club.
