Atalanta playing hardball over sale of Lookman who dreams of being signed by Barcelona
Published: June 15, 2025
Ademola Lookman's future is once again the subject of speculation, with Napoli among the clubs interested in the Nigeria international forward.
However, Atalanta are proving to be tough negotiators, reportedly demanding a fee between €60 and €70 million, figures Napoli consider well beyond market value.
Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport, via Il Napolista is reporting that the Bergamo club have 'put up a wall' to complicate negotiations, prompting Napoli to consider Noa Lang as a possible alternative.
Lookman, who was named the 2024 African Footballer of the Year, has become a hot commodity after a stellar season.
Napoli view him as an ideal addition to manager Antonio Conte’s attack, potentially lining up alongside Romelu Lukaku and benefitting from the creativity of Kevin De Bruyne.
Lookman’s versatility makes him a prime candidate to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window, possibly as a left winger or second striker.
Meanwhile, Lookman reportedly dreams of a move to Barcelona, with Mundo Deportivo stating that the 27-year-old winger still hopes to join the Catalan giants despite previous failed attempts to leave Atalanta.
The Charlton Athletic academy graduate has directly participated in 77 goals (52 goals, 25 assists) in 118 matches since landing in Italy from German club RB Leipzig in August 2022.
