Tosin unbothered: Chelsea centre-back dismisses low attendance talk after win against LAFC
Published: June 17, 2025
Chelsea central defender Tosin Adarabioyo has emphasized that the team remained undeterred by the sparse crowd during their Fifa Club World Cup opener against Los Angeles FC on Monday, at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Despite nearly 50,000 empty seats in the 71,000-capacity venue, Adarabioyo insisted that the players’ concentration was solely on their performance on the pitch.
"We were just focused on the game and what happened on the pitch, Adarabioyo was quoted as saying The Mirror, highlighting the team’s commitment to securing a victory regardless of external factors.
Chelsea triumphed with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez, with substitute Liam Delap providing an assist for the latter.
The low attendance of just 22,137 fans emphasized broader challenges for Fifa newly expanded tournament, but Adarabioyo’s comments reflect Chelsea’s determination to stay focused on their objectives.
His remarks align with the team’s broader narrative of resilience and adaptability under manager Enzo Maresca, who praised the squad’s performance despite the “strange” atmosphere.
Adarabioyo’s ability to block out distractions exemplifies the professionalism required at a club of Chelsea’s stature, especially in a high-stakes global competition.
As the Blues prepare for their next match against Flamengo in three days, Adarabioyo’s mindset signals a team ready to tackle the challenges ahead, both on and off the field.
With Adarabioyo and his teammates locked in, Chelsea aims to build momentum in the tournament and silence any doubters.
