'My game is attracting attention' - Left-footed CB Ede breaks silence on Chelsea and Arsenal interest
Published: June 17, 2025
Left-footed Polish-born Nigerian centre-back Bright Ede has reacted to reports linking him with Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The promising defender expressed appreciation for the interest but insisted he remains fully focused on his current club Motor Lublin.
Chelsea are actively working on a deal to sign Ede and are hopeful of concluding negotiations this week, placing them in pole position to secure the highly rated defender.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also interested, with a club scout watching the 18-year-old in action on the final day of the Ekstraklasa season.
Ede has been identified by Chelsea as a long-term prospect, with plans already in place to loan him to sister club Strasbourg immediately after completing his signing.
The move is aimed at accelerating his development with regular first-team football in a competitive European environment.
The transfer fee is likely to exceed eleven million euros, setting a new record as the most expensive transfer in Ekstraklasa history.
Addressed the speculation on Sunday, just as Motor Lublin prepared to begin their pre-season training, Ede was quoted as saying by Polsat Sport: "Tomorrow we start the preparation period. I try to focus on the present - football is a dynamic sport, a lot is happening, but for now only Motor counts.
"I am here, I play here and with this team I want to enter the new season as well prepared as possible."
Despite interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and unnamed Bundesliga clubs, Ede is staying grounded.
"I'm glad that such information is appearing - it's a sign that I'm developing well and my game is attracting attention.
"It's motivating for me, but I keep a cool head. The most important thing is not to lose focus and continue to work hard," he added.
Last season, Ede recorded six appearances for Motor Lublin in the Polish top-flight and scored on his debut against Stal Mielec on March 30.
