Joseph Olowu: Arsenal's Hale End Academy product joins Stockport County

Through the official website, EFL League One side Stockport County have confirmed the signing of Joseph Olowu following the expiration of his contract at Doncaster Rovers.

The 25-year-old central defender, a product of Arsenal’s Hale End Academy, joins the Hatters on a free transfer and has penned a three-year deal.

His arrival marks manager Dave Challinor’s first signing of the off-season.

Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Olowu turned down a new contract offer from Doncaster Rovers, having already decided to pursue a fresh chapter in his career ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

Olowu enhanced his reputation with a standout season at Doncaster, where he registered three goals in 39 appearances across all competitions before a season-ending injury sidelined him for the club’s final 11 league matches.

He first joined Doncaster in September 2021 after impressing during a trial, going on to make 144 appearances and scoring eight goals during a four-year spell.

Before his time at Doncaster, Olowu spent eight years with Arsenal, gaining senior experience on loan at Cork City and Wealdstone prior to his release by the Gunners at the end of the 2020–21 season.

Stockport will hope his experience and defensive presence bolster their backline as they prepare for the upcoming League One campaign.
