Nottingham Forest gave their supporters reason to celebrate on Saturday morning by officially announcing that Nuno Espírito Santo has signed a new contract with the club.
The Portuguese football tactician will continue coaching Nigeria internationals Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis next season, after extending his contract with the two-time European champions until the summer of 2028.
Nuno has been rewarded with a new deal after guiding Nottingham Forest to its highest league finish in 30 years and thus qualifying for UEFA European competition for the first time since the 1995-1996 season.
The extension follows a period of uncertainty surrounding Nuno's future, sparked by a confrontation with owner Evangelos Marinakis in the penultimate home game of the season.
Marinakis questioned Nuno's decision to keep an injured Taiwo Awoniyi on the pitch in the closing minutes of Forest's 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
Nuno's impressive work was acknowledged with three Premier League Manager of the Month awards—more than any other manager in the 2024-25 season—following standout performances in October, December and March.
Since taking over from Steve Cooper in December 2023, Nuno has overseen 42 appearances from Taiwo Awoniyi, who has contributed four goals and one assist, while Ola Aina has featured in 46 matches, registering two goal involvements.
As for Dennis, the Super Eagles forward has yet to play a single game with Nuno in the dugout.
His future at the City Ground is up in the air following following successive loan spells at İstanbul Başakşehir, Watford and Blackburn Rovers.
