'No contact with Man City' – Galatasaray chief insists Osimhen is the priority, not Gundogan
Published: June 22, 2025
Galatasaray Deputy Chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu has firmly denied any contact with Manchester City over a potential transfer for İlkay Gündoğan, insisting that the club's top priority this summer remains securing the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Speaking in an interview with Ajans1905, as reported by Habersarikirmizi, Hatipoğlu addressed mounting speculation linking the Turkish giants to Manchester City's Gündoğan, who has been linked with a departure from the Citizens this summer.
"We have not had any connection with Manchester City regarding transfers," Hatipoğlu said.
"We have not discussed money with İlkay Gündoğan and his manager. There is no such thing on our agenda at the moment.
"We are all thinking about the Osimhen transfer first. We will meet later if our coach wants."
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer, enjoyed a sensational campaign in Istanbul, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances.
His explosive form was instrumental in Galatasaray clinching both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
Despite interest from Al-Hilal, Galatasaray are determined to retain the 26-year-old Super Eagles forward permanently.
Galatasaray fans will be hoping their club can fend off competition and pull off one of the biggest transfer coups in Turkish football history by landing Osimhen on a permanent deal.
