Danish champions FC Copenhagen looking to offload two out-of-favour Nigeran attackers

Danish Superliga champions FC Copenhagen have started preparations for the new season, with squad reinforcements high on the agenda.

At the same time, The Lions are working to offload a number of players, including Paul Mukairu and Moscow-born German Onugkha, who has committed his international future to Nigeria.

The two Nigerian attackers are not in the plans of manager Jacob Neestrup for the upcoming campaign and have to look for new clubs.

Despite not being involved in international duty with the Super Eagles during the off-season, Mukairu and Onugkha did not report for the start of pre-season on Sunday ahead of FC Copenhagen’s trip to Austria for a training camp on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media during Monday’s training session, FC Copenhagen's sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen confirmed that Mukairu, Onugkha and Ivorian forward Mamoudou Karamoko remain on holiday because the club is actively working on moving them on.

In quotes relayed by Bold, Sune Smith-Nielsen stated: "The three players are currently on holiday, and these are players we are working on finding a permanent solution for. They are not part of the plans."

Mukairu was loaned out to Turkish club Boluspor last season, while Onugkha spent the second half of the campaign at Vejle in search of adequate playing opportunities.

Mukairu remains under contract with FC Copenhagen until December 2025, while Onugkha has entered the final year of his current deal with the Danish champions.
