'Getting better' - Super Eagles midfielder Onyedika aims to raise the bar at Club Brugge
Published: June 24, 2025
After a demanding 2024–25 campaign, Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika is taking a well-earned breather before turning his attention to the season ahead, where he is determined to raise his game further.
The 24-year-old is yet to report for pre-season training, having been on international duty with the Super Eagles earlier this month.
Onyedika featured for the full 90 minutes in Nigeria's friendly against Russia in Moscow.
"It's a good time to rest after a stressful season, I would say. It's good to have some time off, refresh and be ready again," Onyedika told The Punch.
The former FC Midtjylland man was a mainstay in the Brugge setup throughout the 2024–25 season, amassing 52 appearances across all competitions.
His contributions—two goals and two assists—underlined his value in the heart of midfield, combining industry with composure and consistency.
Looking ahead, Onyedika is focused on surpassing last season's standards.
"It will be more than last season, keep getting better and keep working hard more than the past season," he said.
With two years remaining on his current deal, speculation is mounting over a possible summer exit.
The €20 million-rated midfielder is reportedly attracting interest from several top European clubs following his standout performances in Belgium and on the international stage.
