'Atalanta must sell him' - Ex-Sporting director says Lookman is ideal replacement for Kvaratskhelia
Published: July 02, 2025
Former Italian sporting director Enrico Fedele has added his voice to the growing speculation surrounding Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who has been linked with a summer move to Napoli as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Lookman, who joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022, has enjoyed a stellar spell at the Bergamo-based club, delivering consistent performances across three seasons.
With Kvaratskhelia making a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025, Napoli are reportedly eyeing the Super Eagles star as his successor.
The transfer rumours have triggered comparisons between the two wingers, with Fedele offering his assessment during an appearance on Radio Marte, as reported by Area Napoli.
"Would Lookman make the leap in quality? Yes," Fedele said. "His contract is not long and yet he has a high price. Atalanta must sell him."
Fedele also weighed in on the much-discussed comparison between Lookman and Kvaratskhelia, suggesting that the Nigerian winger is not far behind the Georgian in terms of quality and impact.
"Furthermore he is a player who is getting close to Kvara : various situations could be favourable to his arrival in Campania," he added.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Lookman's future remains a key talking point in Serie A.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old will be hoping for a swift resolution as he looks to maintain his momentum and continue his impressive run in Italian football.
